Governance Good Practice Guide

What is the Governance Good Practice Guide?
http://www.ggpg.org.uk/

The Governance Good Practice Guide (GGPG) offers practical support and advice to everybody concerned with the governance of further education and training.
A recurring message from the sector is the need for consistent, accessible and sustainable information on governance issues, linked to practical support on key governance themes. This guide, sponsored by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), provides information on the national context of the FE system as well as the first two key themes: Governance role and responsibilities and Self-assessment.

It is designed to help users of the FE system to enhance the quality of governance in their organisation through sound leadership and performance. This applies to clerks to corporations, governors and principals, FE managers, staff and learners within the college, Learning and Skills Council (LSC) staff and stakeholders in the wider community.

The guide offers examples of practices, processes and sample documents against which you can compare your own current arrangements and subsequently:

adopt, if they closely match your individual needs
adapt, in order to meet your specific needs
use, as a point of reference to review and reflect upon your current activities.
