Based on your feedback to our position papers we have identified the following questions for the forum next week. There will be opportunities both during the table discussions and panel feedback to add anything that you believe has been missed on. Table Questions for DiscussionDiscussion 1 - Recruitment and Diversity of FE Governors1. How will you model and monitor diversity/community representation as a board in a self-regulated environment? 2. From your experiences what can FE learn from other public and private sector models of governance which would improve the diversity and quality of our governing bodies? 3. In what ways if any can the recruitment of new high calibre governors be made more effective and transparent? 4. Any other comment? Discussion 2 - The Leitch Review of Skills1. Given the requirement for more provision to be funded by individual employers what initiatives and activities would you propose that would result in:- A. More employers actively addressing the requirement for a better skilled workforce? B. An efficient framework to bring employers and providers closer together? 2. What are the barriers to a fully flexible FE system that can meet all the reasonable demands of employers? 3. What skill sets are missing from college staff and governors that need to be addressed in order to secure our fair share of contract opportunities from employers? 4. Any other comment? Discussion 3 - Self-Regulation1. Have we got the self-regulation proposition outlined by George Sweeny and his team right? (see website www.feselfregulation.org.uk for more details) 2.
