powers of the governing board

The governing board has the power to
  • provide further and higher education and training
  • provide secondary education to 14 to 16 year olds
  • supply goods and services in support of the provision of education
  • conduct an educational institution
  • subscribe for, or acquire shares in, or securities of, a company
  • acquire and dispose of assets
  • borrow money
  • invest money
The governing board also has powers to enter into contracts and make other arrangements to support its main powers.

The legal power of the governing board rests with the governing board as a whole, not with individual governors.
