College Governance and the New Ofsted Inspection Framework

Who should attend

Governors, clerks and principals

Overview

This boardroom briefing will explore the implications of the new Ofsted inspection framework launched in September 2009 for college governors. The presentation will explore the difference of emphasis in the new framework compared with that of 2005–09 and how the focus on governance has been reinforced. It will consider how inspections, and inspections of governance in particular, are carried out under the new arrangements and what board members might expect during an inspection. Through a mix of presentation and practical tasks, participants will be invited to explore the implications of the changes to their own institution and the roles they have as board members.

Benefits of attending

  • Ensure board members are aware of the implications of the new inspection arrangements for them and their institution.
  • Secure a better understanding of how governors might enhance their skills and knowledge to undertake their duties as board members.
