The individual

There is reference to examinations, where will these be held and when?
These are held at various locations and dates throughout the year- an individual will take the exam at a suitable time to them.

Is there any provision for accreditation of prior learning?
This is a programme to trial the IOD's suitability for our sector and we are taking the programme as designed by IOD which has no APL. However part of the feedback from the trial group is that APL may be appropriate for future programmes.

How many places are being sponsored by CEL?
20

What are the selection criteria for gaining CEL sponsorship?
Normally a minimum of 1 year on a board. Plus we are asking for a statement from the governors stating how their involvement in this programme will help them in their role as a governor and in developing further the effectiveness of their board, and in what way they can contribute to the detailed evaluation of the programme, its contextualisation and examples of effective practice. The selection criteria can be found here.

Is this a one-off sponsorship? If so, will the cost be £10k per delegate for subsequent programmes?
Yes this is a one off feasibility study. If delegates deem the programme to be successful then we will be considering how we can best provide this training for governors in the future at an appropriate cost.

What is the time commitment?
The modules will require a minimum of 13 days between March and September 2008 + examination days with at least 2 further days in 2009 for impact review meetings.

What is the expected time commitment for the e-learning elements of the programme?
1 day for the Governance and 1 day for the Strategy module
