This briefing is for governors, clerks and senior management. It provides strategic awareness of the new Corporate Manslaughter Act and suggests key points for action, including how to carry out a strategic health check.

Overview

The Corporate Manslaughter Act came into force on 6 April 2008, so this is a good time for colleges to review their approach. The briefing will also look at the new IoD and HSC guide, Leading Health and Safety at Work, which now sets a standard for all boards on health and safety management. Other key aspects of good governance in health and safety will also be covered.
