Health and SafetyUnder health and safety legislation, the College must ensure the health and safety of anyone entering the college site - students, staff, governors, contractors and visitors and of anyone who may be affected by the College’s undertaking. If an accident occurs and the college is found to be negligent, the College can face prosecution as can individuals employed by the College. the College may also face civil sanctions for any damages caused to someone adversely affected by the College’s undertaking and have to meet the cost of claims against it. Colleges also have a duty to ensure, so far as practicable, the health and safety of students on work placements.
